Comma Press and Chapter and Verse Festival present... The Eureka Commissions

A specially commissioned shorty story reading with Frank Cottrell Boyce, Adam Marek, Adam Roberts with vibrophone player Vidar Norheim!

Come down to Bluey this evening to witness a meeting of minds - a clash of cultures between the worlds of science and literature - as three acclaimed authors read specially commissioned stories that explore eureka moments and ruening points from the history of science. Frank Cotrell Boyce will be reading a short story about the great Liverpudlian astronomer Jeremiah Horrocks (sometimes referred to as 'the Keats of Astronomy'), Adam Marek will be reading a story about the discovery of echoes of the Big Bang (Cosmic Background Radiation), and Adam Roberts will be discussing literature's long love affair with science.

Tonight: Thursday 14th Oct, 6pm, The Bluecoat.
Ticket: £3 / £2 Or just turn up and buy on the door.

Frank Cottrell Boyce's film credits include Welcome to Sarajevo, Hilary and Jackie, Code 46, 24 Hour Party People and A Cock and Bull Story. In 2004, his debut novel Millions won the Carnegie Medal and was shortlisted for The Guardian Children’s Fiction Award. His second novel, Framed, was published by Macmillan in 2005.

Adam Roberts is a novelist, critic and historian of science fiction. He has been nominated twice for the Arthur C. Clarke Award: in 2001, for his debut novel, Salt, and in 2007, for Gradisil. He is also author of the Palgrave History of Science Fiction.

Adam Marek's debut collection Instruction Manual for Swallowing (Comma, 2007) was described by The Independent as 'Early McEwan meets David Cronenberg'. Earlier this year he was shortlisted for the Sunday Times EFG Private Bank Prize.
